Do You Remember the Positives?

Positive Thinking can in my view go too far. It is important to recognise real obstacles or difficulties and deal with them or manage them in a practical way rather than ignore them. However, it is also true that people often remember only the negatives about themselves or their situation and forget the positives.

If you are the kind of person who tends usually to focus too much on the negatives in your situation or life, then when you find yourself thinking of those negatives try to remind yourself of say 2 positive things about where you are now and what you have that is good or satisfactory. This can help to balance out some of your characteristic negativity.

Remember you don't always have to be positive, but acknowledging the real positives in your life can help you to balance out the negatives if the latter are what you tend to focus on.
