Auto-Addictive Responses

'Auto-Addictive Responses' is a name I sometimes use for habitual reactions that you would like to change but which have become so ingrained in your way of being that you find it difficult to imagine changing them.

My suggestion is simple: try a different reaction once as an experiment and see how it goes!

So first of all, think of the kind of situation or person that seems to trigger a response from you that you would like to change. Plan the different type of response you will try next time. When the situation next arises mentally observe that your trigger situation is happening, remind yourself of your experimental new response and try it out!

If it produces a good result then try it again...!
